Brittany Boltinhouse has been stripped of her Miss North Carolina USA 2026 title, ending her reign just weeks before the Miss USA competition. Myla Hadley, the first runner-up, will now assume the title and represent North Carolina at Miss USA.
A-Blaize Productions announced the decision after Brittany’s past social media posts resurfaced and drew public criticism. The group said it made the difficult call after multiple conversations and consultation with the Miss USA Organization, and that the move was based on the totality of the circumstances and its responsibility to preserve the integrity of the Miss North Carolina USA title and the values of the organization.
The decision lands at a sensitive moment for the pageant, with the national competition close enough that the title transfer changes who will be on stage and how North Carolina is represented. A-Blaize Productions oversees Miss USA pageants in several Southern states, which made the choice more than a routine title change; it was a public reset of a crown that had already been won.
The organization tried to balance that reset with a softer public message. It said that people are capable of growth, that grace and accountability can coexist, and that one mistake does not have to define an entire life. It also said leadership carries a unique responsibility, thanked Brittany for the time, dedication and commitment she gave, and asked supporters to extend kindness and respect to both women during the transition.
That message did not stop the consequence. Thom Brodeur said Brittany Boltinhouse’s reign as Miss North Carolina USA 2026 came to an end and said the decision was made together with her, her state directors and in consultation with the Miss USA Organization. Jeff Phillips also framed the episode as a warning to contestants, saying their brand is themselves and that it has to stand up to public scrutiny.
Brittany, a Duplin County native who now lives in Leland, did not wish to comment when reached by phone. What remains unanswered is not who takes the title next, but what the resurfaced posts contained and how long the scrutiny around them had been building before the crown was taken away.
For now, the answer is clear: Myla Hadley takes over as Miss North Carolina USA 2026, and North Carolina’s path to Miss USA now runs through her instead of Brittany.
