Walmart has recalled Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter after tests found salmonella in three jars purchased at one of its stores. The food recall covers the 6.7-ounce glass jars marked with UPC 194346207961 and Lot Code LB028ACP04, with an expiration date of January 28, 2027.
The recall lands now because Walmart was told on July 7 that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had tested the jars and found the bacteria. That finding turned a routine shelf item into a health alert, and it affects customers who bought the product in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming.
The size of the concern is plain enough. Three jars were tested, and all three turned up positive for salmonella. The product was then distributed to Walmart retail stores in 19 states, which means the recall reaches far beyond the single store where the jars were bought. The company is not dealing with a rumor or a precaution based on a packaging mistake. It is dealing with a test result.
That said, the recall carries a detail that cuts against the worst-case reading: no illnesses have been reported at this time. For shoppers, that does not erase the risk.
