Netflix has renewed Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black for Season 4, reversing the earlier plan to end the series with Season 3. The move lands before Season 3 has even premiered, giving the drama an extension while viewers are still waiting for the next chapter.

The timing helps explain why Tudum searches are spiking now. The show premiered in 2024, and its second season spent six weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 while reaching No. 1 in 17 countries, enough momentum to make another renewal more than a routine programming note. Tyler Perry said the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished and that there was much more he wanted to explore, a clear signal that the series still has room to run.

Beauty in Black follows Kimmie and the wealthy Bellarie family, whose beauty empire secretly operates an underground trafficking ring. In the second season, Kimmie was trying to dismantle that operation while rescuing her kidnapped sister, and Season 3 is set to put her at the Bellarie family table at last, with an uneasy partnership with Mallory. That setup made the earlier decision to frame Season 3 as the final installment feel definitive; renewing the show for Season 4 seven months later changes the meaning of the story before the next season has even arrived.

The reversal also leaves one practical question hanging over the rollout: when will Season 3 actually debut? Netflix has not announced a premiere date yet, so the next update is likely to be about when the show returns, not whether it will continue. For now, the answer is already on the table — Beauty in Black is not ending where viewers were told it would.

Separately, Xavier Smalls apologized after anti-LGBTQ+ comments from a February TikTok Live resurfaced online, saying he took full accountability and would continue to learn and grow.
