Shawn Mendes marked Bruna Marquezine's 31st birthday on Tuesday with the first Instagram post that showed the two of them together. He paired the birthday message with photos of Marquezine at Casa Amarela Providência in Rio de Janeiro, and the post quickly became the clearest public signal yet that the relationship had moved out of the realm of reports and into view.
The message was unambiguous. Mendes wrote, “Feliz aniversário my baby,” and said Marquezine is “a light and a mãe (mother) in every room you walk into.” He added that she had “truly changed my life” and that he was “so so grateful for you,” before closing with “Eu te amo muito muito muitoo.”
That is why the post matters now. Mendes and Marquezine were first linked in late 2025, and they were photographed visiting a farmers' market in Rio de Janeiro last month, but he had not previously shared them together on social media. Tuesday's post did two things at once: it celebrated Marquezine's birthday and gave fans the first public Instagram glimpse of the pair as a couple.
The photos also pointed to Casa Amarela Providência, the Rio de Janeiro community centre Mendes thanked by name in the post. He wrote, “We all do amor... & thank you @casaamarelaprovidencia for what you're doing!” That detail gave the birthday tribute a second layer, turning what could have been a private message into a public nod to the work being done there.
There is still one piece the post did not answer: when Mendes and Marquezine actually became a couple. He was already talking in October 2024 about trying to take the pressure off finding “The One,” and now he has chosen to celebrate Marquezine openly, but he has not put a date on when the relationship began. For now, the birthday post is the answer to the public question and the latest sign that he is no longer keeping that part of his life off Instagram.
