Barry Manilow postponed his Tuesday night concert in Lexington, Ky. just minutes before he was set to take the stage, telling fans at 6:19 p.m. that tonight’s show had been rescheduled. The announcement came 45 minutes before the planned 7 p.m. start.
That left ticket holders with a last-minute change and no explanation. Manilow did not give a reason for the postponement, even as he said the Lexington performance would be rescheduled. Rupp Arena said previously purchased tickets will be honored once a new date is announced.
The Lexington concert had already been moved once before. It was first scheduled for March 9, then postponed while Manilow recovered from surgery for lung cancer. The cancellation adds another delay to a show that had already been pushed back after his health problems forced earlier changes.
Manilow’s recent schedule has been shaped by the same medical issue. In December, he said doctors found a cancerous spot on his left lung and believed it had not spread, though more tests were still being done to confirm the diagnosis. He later postponed dates at Westgate Las Vegas after surgery, and in January he also moved shows on his Christmas A Gift of Love series.
The unanswered part is simple: the Lexington show was moved again, but the cause was not. Manilow was still expected to perform in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday, so the next thing fans are waiting for is whether Lexington gets a new date and how long it takes to announce it.
