Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was taken to an area hospital on Sunday morning after a hit-and-run crash in Toledo. Police said she was among two people injured in the crash, which happened around 10:45 a.m. near N. Detroit and Central Ave.
That detail is why this is drawing attention now: a sitting member of Congress ended up in the hospital after a crash that police described as a hit-skip, even though officials said the injuries were non-life-threatening. Kaptur was checked out after the crash, and investigators have not yet said whether she was a passenger or a driver.
A Toledo Police spokesperson said the investigation is still in its early stages, which leaves the biggest question hanging over the scene: whether the driver who left has been found. For now, the known facts are limited to what officers confirmed at the scene — two people were taken to the hospital, Kaptur was one of them, and the driver had already taken off.
