Our Will has shifted its support for Hon Kingsley Chinda's 2027 governorship bid from general backing to hard organising in the Lga and ward structures across Rivers State. King Okene has told members of the state Executive Council to move fast and form local government executive councils that can drive the campaign from the bottom up.
The push matters now because the group is trying to build a statewide machine well ahead of the 2027 governorship election, and before the first week of August 2026. Rivers State has 23 local government areas, and Okene named them in full, a sign that the effort is meant to cover every corner of the state rather than remain a statement of intent.
Okene said the local government councils are expected to coordinate mobilisation at ward level, turning the campaign into a layered structure with clear responsibility. He also said members should set up both Lga and ward executive councils before the deadline, a call that makes the operation look less like a rally and more like a political timetable.
That timetable is also where the story gets sharper. Glory Wobo said Chinda already has the mentorship and experience to win the coming race, arguing that his time under Nysom Wike has prepared him for the governorship. But Okene's message was more cautious: acceptance, he said, still needs to be strengthened, and the local structures still need to become more formidable before the group can claim real momentum.
The divide is not about whether Chinda is visible; it is about whether visibility has yet turned into a durable political network. Okene's list of Rivers State LGAs — from Abua-Odual to Tai — shows how broad the campaign hopes to be, but the question left hanging is how many local government executive councils and ward councils have actually been formed so far. Until that is clear, the mobilisation remains a promise measured against its own deadline.
For now, the next test is simple and immediate: whether Our Will can finish the Lga and ward structures before the end of the first week of August 2026. If it does, Chinda's 2027 effort will enter the race with an organised statewide base; if it does not, the group will have announced a plan stronger than the machinery behind it.
