Kansas City Current will meet Angel City FC again on Saturday at CPKC Stadium, with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. CT and a rematch that arrives less than 72 hours after Kansas City’s 5-1 win over Louisville. The game will air nationally on ION and also be available on the World Feed, The Spot – Kansas City 38 and the KC Current App in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
For Kansas City, the timing matters because the club is back at home with a league-record 25-match regular season unbeaten run at CPKC Stadium still intact. That streak has not been built on squeaking by; the Current went 21-0-4 across those 25 matches, and Wednesday’s burst was another reminder of how quickly they can settle a game, scoring three goals in the opening 20 minutes against Louisville.
Vanessa DiBernardo was part of that night’s payoff, reaching her 100th career regular season victory in the win. She joined Debinha, Lauren Barnes and Jess Fishlock as the only players in league history to hit that mark, while Haley Hopkins and Debinha each scored twice, Amelia White recorded her first career NWSL goal, Bayley Feist picked up her first assist for Kansas City and Kolo Suliafu made her league debut.
That kind of form gives Kansas City an edge at home, but Angel City is not arriving as a pushover. The clubs are tied 4-4-1 in the all-time regular season series, Kansas City has taken four of the last five meetings and outscored Angel City 10-4 in that stretch, yet Angel City enters with 22 points, only three behind the Current, which gives this rematch more weight than a typical midseason return fixture.
There is also a hole Kansas City has not filled. Chawinga is with the Malawi Women’s National Team at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from July 26 to Aug. 16, after scoring a brace in the Scorchers’ 3-2 group-stage win. Her absence leaves Kansas City without one of its most dangerous finishers as it tries to protect a home streak that has become central to its season.
Kansas City enters the weekend in sixth place at 9-7-1 with 28 points, while Angel City is eighth at 7-7-1 with 22. The next checkpoint comes Saturday night, when Kansas City’s unbeaten home run, Angel City’s chase and DiBernardo’s milestone all land in the same match.
