The reason the game draws attention now is simple: Atlético-MG arrives with home form that makes it hard to ignore, while Juventude comes in with a strong defensive campaign and a path through the tournament that has already lasted several rounds. Atlético-MG has lost only one match at Arena MRV this season, and the club also reached this stage after eliminating Ceará on penalties in the fifth phase, after earlier beating Palmeiras away from home.
Eduardo Domínguez is expected to keep the same formation used in the win over Palmeiras, with Alan Franco set to return after delays linked to personal problems and Cuello available again after recovering from an edema in his leg. That gives Atlético-MG a cleaner picture in attack and midfield, even if Cissé is suspended after being sent off against Ceará. His absence should open the door for Pérez and Maycon in the middle, with Cassierra as the reference man up front.
Juventude brings a different kind of argument. It entered the Copa do Brasil in the second phase and has already pushed past Guaporé, Tuna Luso, Águia de Marabá and São Paulo to get here. It is also the current vice-leader of Série B and has the best defense in the competition, while its record at Alfredo Jaconi shows only two defeats this season.
