LEGO has unveiled the first Sentry minifigure for Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans their clearest official look yet at Lewis Pullman’s Bob Reynolds in the same yellow-and-blue suit from Thunderbolts*. The figure is part of the first wave of buildable sets tied to the film, and the New Avengers Tower set launches on October 4.

The reveal matters because Sentry is not just another returning costume. He is one of the biggest pieces in Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga, a character introduced in Thunderbolts* with superstrength, superspeed, flight and the kind of power that can bend the world around him. Pullman’s Bob Reynolds had not suited up as Sentry in 14 months when fans last saw his comeback in the Thunderbolts* post-credits scene, and now LEGO has confirmed the same suit will carry him into Avengers: Doomsday.

That suit was designed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, which gives the minifigure a direct line back to Thunderbolts* rather than a fresh reinvention for the crossover. The timing also fits with the first Doomsday trailer, which showed the moments that follow the post-credits scene and placed The New Avengers alongside Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America and the Fantastic Four, with The Human Torch also in the mix. Pullman’s Sentry was later singled out by Daniel Richtman as one of the MVPs of Avengers: Doomsday, adding another clue that the character is set for a major role.

Even so, the clean image of an all-powerful hero masks what has been built into Bob from the start. In Thunderbolts*, Bob Reynolds became Sentry through experimentation from O.X.E. Group, and that same process left him burdened with the curse of The Void. The power is enormous, but it comes with fear. The Void left devastation on New York and its citizens, and Bob is terrified to use what he can do because of that damage. He has found a family in The New Avengers, yet the character’s greatest struggle is not strength. It is whether he can live with it.

LEGO’s reveal settles one question and opens another. Sentry is returning in the Thunderbolts* suit, and Avengers: Doomsday is the next place to look for how far Bob Reynolds goes when the film puts him in the middle of Marvel Studios’ push toward Doctor Doom. A Doomsday set leak last year already hinted at a visit to Bob’s mother's home, which suggests the movie may dig deeper into the upbringing and abuse that shaped him. For now, the minifigure confirms the costume. The movie will have to answer the rest.
