Benny Blanco has released "Te Olvido (La La)" with Selena Gomez and Becky G, a bright Latin single that arrives as the latest cut from his upcoming album Hermoso. The track comes with a music video shot in Los Angeles, where the trio is shown in a project meant to celebrate Los Angeles Chicano culture.
The release is the latest sign that Blanco is leaning harder into a sound he says has been with him since childhood. He has said he grew up in an area with a large Latin population and that Latin music was always around him, from cumbia in one car to Jeanette in another. He also said he was drawn to the drums and to the way rhythms played against each other, a detail that fits the record's upbeat lift.
That push sits beside a sharper comment from Blanco: he has said pop music has stagnated in recent years and that nobody is doing anything truly new. It is a pointed line to make while releasing a new pop-adjacent single of his own, but the record is built to answer it with movement rather than argument. The song's Latin pulse, and the cast around it, are the point.
The video adds more weight to that idea. Danny Trejo and Paul Rodriguez both appear in cameos, and Trejo revisits his signature Machete character with a lighter touch. The setting in Los Angeles and the Chicano references give the clip a local identity, even if the release leaves one question open: how much of the song and video was shaped directly by Gomez and Becky G beyond their featured roles?
For Gomez, the rollout also lands in the middle of a relationship that has played out in public since 2023. She and Blanco began dating in July 2023, around her birthday, and she later confirmed the romance in December 2023 by commenting on a fan page's Instagram post, writing that he is her absolute everything and asking why he had been the best thing that ever happened to her. She went on to post photos in December 2023 from New York City with Blanco and friends, then later shared images that included a bejeweled "B" ring and, at other points, shots of the pair together.
The new single gives that story line a professional payoff as well as a personal one. Hermoso is due out Aug. 14, and "Te Olvido (La La)" suggests Blanco is trying to make a case that the Latin sounds he grew up with can sit at the center of his work, not just around it.
