Disney+ has no free trial, but there is still a workaround

Disney+ no longer offers its own free trial, but viewers can still get access at no cost by signing up for either DirecTV or Hulu + Live TV. DirecTV’s five-day trial and Hulu + Live TV’s three-day trial both include Disney+, creating a short-lived workaround for anyone looking to sample the service without paying directly.

That matters now because Disney+ plans start at $7.99 a month for the ad-supported tier and $13.99 for the ad-free version, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle starts at $9.99 a month. For someone trying to watch before committing, the trial route can be cheaper than starting a subscription, especially when the service is being sold alongside other streaming or live TV packages.

Disney+ has also been folded into broader bundles that push it beyond the idea of a stand-alone subscription. Disney+ and Hulu can be bundled with Unlimited starting at $35.99 a month, and with HBO Max starting at $19.99 a month. DirecTV’s Entertainment Signature Package starts at $59.99 for the first month and rises to $89.99 a month after that, while Hulu + Live TV costs $89.99 a month, so the free access comes attached to trial windows rather than to Disney+ itself.

The catch is that the no-cost route is temporary and depends entirely on the rules of those trial offers. Disney+ does not appear to be giving away a free sample of its own, and the workaround lasts only as long as DirecTV or Hulu + Live TV keep their trial terms in place. For viewers focused on getting in without paying upfront, that is the only opening left for now.
