Disney Consumer Products has rolled out a wide Spider-Man collection built around Spider-Man: Brand New Day, pushing new toys, collectibles, apparel, accessories, home décor, books, games and Disney+ offerings into the market at once. The company says the lineup gives fans of all ages fresh ways to connect with Spider-Man.
The timing is the point. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day still ahead in theaters, Disney is already using the film to drive a retail-and-streaming push that reaches from Disney Store and DisneyStore.com to Marvel Rivals, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Disney+. Paul Gitter said Spider-Man’s bond with fans keeps growing with each generation, and that Disney wants to give people a tangible, daily way to live that fandom, whether through clothing, an action figure or a collectible.
That message is backed by a long list of products. Licensees including the LEGO Group, Hasbro, Funko, Mattel, Iron Studios, Civil Regime, Old Navy, Crocs, Fossil, Bershka and Displate have already released new Spider-Man items tied to the film. Disney Store and DisneyStore.com are adding Spider-Man-themed merchandise inspired by the movie, including the Spider-Man Talking Action Figure, the Spider-Man Light-Up Mask with Sound for Kids and the Spider-Man Big Feet Plush.
The franchise push is not stopping at shelves. A new Spider-Man costume inspired by Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming soon to Marvel Rivals, which is free on PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store with in-game purchases. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 and PC is also getting a suit inspired by Spider-Man Brand-New Day, giving the campaign a second digital hook for players.
Disney+ is carrying the story line too. Generations: The Evolution of Spider-Man is available through mid-October exclusively on the service and covers three Peters across two decades of Spider-Man history, with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland included. Subscribers can also watch the full Spider-Man Collection, which spans Spider-Man history and gives the campaign a streaming home while the next film is still on the horizon.
The books arrive on a schedule that makes the rollout feel tightly staged. Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie becomes available on August 18th, followed by Marvel World of Spider-Man from DK Publishing and Kelly Knox on September 22nd. The latter is a visual guide to the Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man saga and includes new content from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, extending the film’s reach into publishing before audiences have seen the full story on the big screen.
That is the sharp edge of the campaign: Disney is selling the next chapter before the current one has opened. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but the collection is already asking fans to buy, stream and play around a film whose theatrical release date has not yet been publicly set in this material. For now, the clearest answer is that the Spider-Man machine is moving first, and the movie will have to catch up.
