Hulu has set the Chad Powers Season 2 release for Sept. 3 and dropped first look images from the new run. One of the photos shows Chad and Ricky at the entrance to the Catfish stadium, a small visual that does a lot of work: the season is back, the stakes are still tied to the team, and the lie at the center of it all is not getting any easier to hide.
That date is the reason viewers are searching now. The new season gives the show a concrete return point, and the first images offer the first look at where the story is headed, even if they do not give away the full path. Glen Powell returns as Russ Holliday, the man behind Chad Powers, with Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, and the series once again keeps its focus on whether that identity can survive long enough to matter on the field.
The hook remains the same: Chad is a superstar between the lines, but his odd behavior away from them has everyone suspicious. Coach Hudson and Gerry are especially wary, and the walls are closing in on Russ’s lie as the season goes on. That matters because the Catfish are not just trying to look competitive; in Season 2, they still have their sights set on the College Football Playoff, a target that turns every game, every mistake and every glance in the wrong direction into part of the pressure.
Ricky sits at the center of that squeeze. She is the only person who can help Russ and Danny if they want Chad to survive the regular season and lead the Catfish to the CFP, which makes her role more than a supporting part in the story. Chad Powers is based on the Eli’s Places segment from and Omaha Productions and was created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron. The show is produced by 20th Television, with Eli Manning again serving as executive producer in Season 2 alongside Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown and ’s Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart and Craig Lazarus, while Powell executive produces with Dan Cohen under Barnstorm Productions. Michael Waldron and Adam Fasullo executive produce for Anomaly Pictures, and Luvh Rakhe also serves as executive producer.
For now, the key answer is simple: Season 2 arrives on Sept. 3, and the first look images suggest the show is leaning harder into the strain between Chad’s on-field success and the suspicion circling Russ off it. What those photos do not show is how long that disguise can keep working once the regular season tightens and the Catfish chase the CFP.
