Beauty in Black Season 3 now has a release date. Netflix set the Tyler Perry drama to return on August 27 and released first-look photos from the new season, giving viewers their clearest sign yet that the story is moving ahead even after the show was once expected to end with Season 3.
The timing matters because the series is still drawing attention from viewers who have followed Kimmie and Mallory through the show’s shifting power struggle. Taylor Polidore Williams leads the cast as Kimmie, the young woman who has fought to keep her life together after her mother kicked her out, while Crystle Stewart plays Mallory, the business owner whose path keeps colliding with hers.
Tyler Perry created, directed, wrote and executive produced Beauty in Black, which centers on two women leading very different lives before their worlds become entangled. In Season 2, the family behind a beauty brand and an underground trafficking ring was pushed toward a reckoning, and Kimmie became a force of vengeance while trying to rescue her kidnapped sister. The new season is set to move the story further, with Kimmie taking a seat at the Bellarie table and being forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory when a deadly family feud erupts.
That is where the show’s earlier ending plan made the new date notable. Late last year, the series was expected to conclude after Season 3, but it has since been renewed for a fourth season, which means the August 27 premiere is no longer a final chapter marker. Instead, it becomes the start of a stretch that keeps the story alive beyond what viewers were first led to expect.
