John Cena says two hair transplant surgeries have changed his life, and he is not hiding the result. The WWE star said the procedures took more than 20 hours in all, with his first operation lasting 13 and a half hours and his second eight hours.
Cena discussed the work on Saturday, July 25, while speaking with PEOPLE at San Diego Comic-Con, where he said his shaved look is going well after the second procedure. He said the aim was simple: get more hair, and do it with Ken Anderson, whom he credited with changing his life.
The timing matters because Cena did not frame this as a quiet, private fix. He said his WWE fans had already been nudging him to take his hair health seriously, even as he was trying to hide the loss. He said the audience kept bringing it into the open, with signs that called out "The bald John Cena," turning what he hoped to keep under wraps into a public conversation.
Cena first went under the knife in November 2024 and returned about 15 months later for the second procedure. He said Anderson told him the best results came if he was bold enough to shave his head, so the transplant could keep the follicles in place. Anderson runs the Anderson Center for Hair in Georgia.
For Cena, the result is part of a broader routine that now includes red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins and the transplant itself. He said he wishes he had done it 10 years earlier, and his point was plain: the hesitation was about shame, not the procedure. The unresolved piece is how far he will keep going now that he has made hair restoration public, but for the moment, Cena says the change already feels worth the time it took.
