The story lands now because Connelly told it during Entertainment Weekly's 2026 San Diego Comic-Con Studio, and the mix-up was fresh enough that she described it as happening "the other day." It was not the first time she has heard it. Connelly said fans often mistake her for Moore, and this time the airport confusion got so stubborn that the people in line would not accept her denial.
"I've gotten people insisting — going through security the other day, they're like, 'Oh my God, you're Demi Moore,'" Connelly said. "I was like, 'I'm not.'" She said the response came right back at her: "They were like, 'You are.'" Her answer was blunt: "No. I'm really not. I'm not. I have my passport to show you."
That mix-up has some logic behind it. Connelly and Moore both began as teen actors in the 1980s and went on to steady success in the 1990s and 2000s, which has made them familiar faces across similar generations of viewers. The comparison also has drifted online, where fans trade side-by-side lookalikes and keep folding the two into the same conversation.
There was another confusion Connelly said she had to swat away during the same appearance. Someone told her she had been "so good" in a movie with Brad Pitt, and she replied that she was not in a movie with Brad Pitt. When the correction did not stick, she said, "I'm really not, I promise you."
