Marvel Comics used San Diego Comic-Con's Next Big Thing panel to lay out a 2026 roadmap that stretches from the Hulk saga into Deadpool, Punisher and a new Midnight line. The biggest reveal was Hulk War: Infernal Rage, the next stage of a storyline Phillip Kennedy Johnson said has been building since 2023.
That matters now because the panel did not just tease projects; it pinned down release months and issue numbers. Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine #1 lands in September 2026, Infernal Hulk vs. Fantastic Four #1 follows in October, Infernal Hulk vs. Spider-Man #1 arrives in November and Infernal Hulk vs. Avengers #1 closes the run in December. Johnson said he had Jonas Scharf in mind for the brutal, violent one-shot from the moment the March to Hulk War was conceived, which gives the slate a clear creative through line rather than a loose stack of teases.
The Hulk books are built as a March to Hulk War, a one-shot miniseries that leads into Hulk War itself. That structure gives Marvel a way to turn a long-running arc into a calendar of fights, and it also sharpens the oddest matchup in the group: Johnson said Spider-Man is grossly underpowered for the fight in his Infernal Hulk one-shot, which is not the kind of imbalance that usually suggests an even contest.
Marvel also previewed Big Guns, a crossover between Wade Wilson: Deadpool and The Punisher that runs across four issues in September and October 2026. Wade Wilson: Deadpool #8 is Big Guns Part 1, The Punisher #8 is Part 2, Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 is Part 3 and The Punisher #9 is Part 4. Benjamin Percy said Deadpool's healing factor has gone into overdrive and Blind Al has become an oracle capable of seeing visions of the future, while also describing the project in terms that set the tone for its absurdity.
What the panel did not fully answer was where Marvel plans to go beyond the announced lanes. The 2026 slate is concrete where fans usually get hints: a Hulk build that dates back to 2023, a crossover that splits neatly across four issues and a run of one-shots that climb month by month toward Hulk War. The remaining gap is the same one left by the new Webtoon material: Marvel said there are three original series on the way, but it stopped short of naming them.
