Steve Erceg gets another chance to steady his climb on Saturday, when he meets Ramazan Temirov in the UFC Fight Night 282 co-feature at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The men’s flyweight bout is set to begin at approximately 2:10 p.m. ET and will stream live on Paramount+.
For Erceg, the matchup is the next step in a push for three straight wins after victories over Ode Osbourne and Tim Elliott. He enters with a 14-4 MMA record and a 5-3 mark in the UFC, and his recent run has helped him move beyond the decision loss to Alexandre Pantoja in a title shot at UFC 301. Temirov brings a 19-2 MMA record, a 2-0 UFC mark and a streak that now stands at 11 straight victories.
The appeal is in the contrast. Erceg has already shown he can recover after a hard setback and rebuild momentum with disciplined boxing and work in close. Temirov, meanwhile, has won his first two UFC appearances by stopping CJ Vergara and then outpointing Charles Johnson, which makes him the sort of fast starter Erceg has to solve early. That is where the bout starts to matter beyond the records: if Erceg can keep the pace from turning chaotic, he gives himself a path to a third straight win; if Temirov can force an early scramble, the unbeaten UFC start becomes harder to shake.
There is also a split in how the matchup is being priced. Dan Tom has leaned toward Erceg, saying the former title challenger looks like he is getting his footing back after a post-title-challenge skid and that it is hard not to favor him to survive the opening storms and pull away with his boxing and elbows. The betting market, though, has nudged Temirov slightly ahead at -114, with Erceg at -106 via FanDuel.
Temirov’s case is still complicated by the year he spent away from competition after a drug suspension, which leaves a simple question hanging over the fight: whether his current streak reflects the same form he will bring into Abu Dhabi, or whether Erceg is catching him at the right time. Saturday will answer that quickly, because this co-feature is built for a fast read on which fighter is carrying more momentum into the division’s next round of movement.
