The CW has renewed Sullivan’s Crossing for Season 5, setting up a 10-episode return that will premiere in 2027. Production is due to begin in Nova Scotia later this summer, keeping the romantic drama on the network’s schedule for another year.
That renewal arrives while the show is getting fresh attention from Sullivan's Crossing Season 5 Netflix searches, after the series built a new U.S. audience through streaming exposure. The CW has been the show’s first-window U.S. home since Season 1, but the latest stretch of momentum was sharpened by Netflix in the U.S., where the first three seasons landed last summer and Season 4 debuted on June 30, just days after its CW finale on June 22.
Roma Roth, who created the series from Robyn Carr’s bestselling books, remains an executive producer and said she is still committed to guiding the show into its next chapter. She also turned over the head writer job to Floyd Kane for Season 5, signaling that the series is moving forward with a slightly different creative setup even as it stays in the same lane that has made it one of The CW’s steadier performers.
The numbers explain why the network kept going. Season 4 ranked at No. 6 on Netflix’s English series chart globally in its opening week with 3 million views, while the show averaged more than 1 million cross-platform viewers per episode on The CW. On linear TV, it was up 62% among adults 18-49, 26% among adults 25-54 and 30% in total viewers, and P2+ viewing across VOD platforms rose 44% within seven days of airing.
Season 4 was also the first installment without original co-lead Scott Patterson, and there are no current plans for him to return in Season 5 in a significant way. That leaves Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray to carry the series forward as Maggie Sullivan and Cal continue to anchor the story, with Liam’s arrival still hanging over the end of the last season. The show’s next phase is already locked in: 10 more episodes, a summer start in Nova Scotia and a 2027 debut on The CW, with the bigger question now less about whether it survives than how it keeps its audience after losing a familiar piece of its core cast.
