Prada will open Milan women’s fashion week on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. CET, moving out of its usual Thursday slot and taking the first place in a provisional calendar that runs through Sept. 28.
The early placement matters because this is the week buyers, editors and rivals will use to read the season’s tone. The calendar released on Thursday lists 60 shows, six of them digital, and Prada is not just leading the pack; it is setting the pace for a schedule that now also includes Moschino’s new creative directors, Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, making their debut during the week.
That opening slot puts Prada ahead of Diesel and Venerdì Pomeriggio on Sept. 22, while Sept. 23 brings Simone Bellotti’s new collection for Jil Sander and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s sophomore ready-to-wear line for Fendi. Later in the week, Etro will stage its first show since the sudden exit of Marco De Vincenzo earlier this year, and Sept. 24 will pack in spring 2027 collections from Max Mara, Marni, Alberta Ferretti, Roberto Cavalli and Emporio Armani.
The lineup also shows how much of Milan fashion news is built on both continuity and change. Demna will show for Gucci at 2 p.m. CET on Sept. 25 at an undisclosed location, and Moschino will unveil its new vision under Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo the same day. Ferrari, meanwhile, will skip Milan altogether for its spring 2027 collection and present it in New York instead, a reminder that even a packed calendar leaves room for brands to make their own statement.
The provisional schedule also leaves some names still to come, including debutantes Marques’ Almeida, Miguel Vieira, Neithan Herbert and Victor-Hart, while Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is forgoing the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards this edition. In its place, the CNMI Creative and Sustainable Fashion Awards begin next year, with a gala dinner at Palazzo Reale on Sept. 23 that coincides with the opening of Dalí e la Moda. For now, the clearest signal is Prada’s: the week starts with the house that usually sits later in the timetable, and everyone else has to respond to that first.
