Paramount Home Entertainment is bringing Sleepy Hollow back to shelves on Sept. 22, 2026, with a 4K Blu-ray steelbook built for collectors. The set pairs a 4K disc with a standard Blu-ray and a digital copy, giving Tim Burton’s gothic horror film a new physical edition nearly 27 years after it first arrived in theaters.
The timing matters because Johnny Depp remains one of the industry’s most watched comeback stories, and Sleepy Hollow is now being pushed as part of that renewed attention. Depp played Ichabod Crane in the 1999 film, which Burton directed as a gothic horror reimagining of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The movie went on to gross more than $206 million worldwide against a $70 million budget, while drawing a 71% critical approval rating and an 80% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The steelbook is being sold as more than a simple repackaging. Its cover shows the silhouette of the Headless Horseman mounted on a horse beside the Tree of the Dead, and the discs add an audio commentary by Burton, Behind the Legend and Reflections on Sleepy Hollow. That makes it a collector release, even though Sleepy Hollow has already had a 4K restoration. In practice, that means the film’s image work has existed before, but this is a newly assembled home-media package with its own disc set, extras and packaging.
The overlap with another Depp-linked title is part of what makes the date stand out. Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is also tied to Depp’s studio comeback, and the same release day suggests the catalog push is being organized around his name as much as around the films themselves. Burton remains central to that story as well; he directed Depp in eight films from 1990 to 2012, and Sleepy Hollow remains one of the partnership’s most durable titles.
For fans, the next concrete date is simple: Sept. 22, 2026. By then, Sleepy Hollow will not just be back in circulation again. It will be back in a format designed to sell to the people most likely to want it, with the film’s cult pull, Burton’s legacy and Depp’s return to high-profile studio packaging all folded into one release.
