Netflix has renewed Beauty in Black for Season 4 before Season 3 has even premiered, reversing a previous plan to end the Tyler Perry drama with Season 3. The move keeps the series going after Netflix said in December that the third season would be its last.
The timing explains why the beauty in black Netflix renewal is drawing attention now. Season 2 was released in two parts, spent six weeks in the Global Top 10, and reached No. 1 in 17 countries, giving Netflix a strong case to lean in rather than shut the door.
Tyler Perry, who created, directed, wrote and executive produced the series, said the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished and that there was much more he wanted to explore. He also thanked viewers who have followed the show from day one and said more episodes are on the way.
Beauty in Black centers on Kimmie and Mallory, two women living very different lives, and the series has built its engine around that split. Kimmie struggles to make a living after her mother kicked her out, while Mallory runs a successful business, and Season 2 pushed that divide into a wider crisis as a beauty brand family and an underground trafficking ring faced a reckoning.
That backdrop matters because the new season order arrives with the show already set up for a sharper turn. In the upcoming Season 3, Kimmie has a seat at the Bellarie table, and she and Mallory are forced into an uneasy alliance after a deadly family feud erupts, which makes the fourth-season pickup less like a gamble than a continuation of a story Netflix now clearly expects to keep paying off.
What changed between December and now is the simplest answer in television: the audience showed up. Netflix had framed Season 3 as the end, but the performance of Season 2 appears to have given the streamer reason to change course before the next chapter even arrived.
