Megan Gustafson and David DiLeo are married. The couple wed on Saturday, July 18, at Bella Sala in Tiffin, Iowa, turning a July engagement into a wedding day surrounded by family, friends and much of Gustafson’s Iowa basketball circle.
The timing gave the celebration an extra sense of movement. Gustafson posted that she had “just married” her best friend, and the newlyweds first danced to “Miracle” by Riley Clemmons. Guests included the entire staff of the Iowa women's basketball team, Jan Jensen, Ticha Penicheiro and Pancake, while Lisa Bluder served as the officiant.
For Gustafson, the marriage lands during an already busy stretch. She is playing for the Portland Fire and is averaging 12.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game on 54.5% shooting and 40% from 3-point land in 24 games played. DiLeo, meanwhile, is preparing for his upcoming season overseas in Turkey, which means the couple’s new life together may still be shaped by travel and time apart.
That was part of what they said mattered most. Gustafson and DiLeo told People that they are most excited about doing life with each other, from ordinary days and building a family to supporting one another through the rest of their careers and beyond. The wedding came after Gustafson announced the engagement in July of 2025, so the marriage now closes that chapter after a long stretch of distance and movement that came with both of their athletic careers.
The celebration also fit into a run of recent milestone moments around prominent Iowa sports figures. Kris Murray married on July 2, Jack Campbell and his wife welcomed their first child on July 3, and Beau Stephens tied the knot on July 4. Gustafson’s wedding was the personal headline in that sequence, but the unfinished part is simpler: when DiLeo leaves for Turkey, the new marriage will quickly be tested by the same long-distance reality they said they are eager to leave behind.
