Houston Dynamo FC used its return to Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday, July 22, to do more than restart the season. The club unveiled its second-half 2026 theme night schedule, beginning with D.C. United and stretching through a packed run of home dates built around giveaways, special merchandise and matchday events.
That matters now because the Dynamo are not just back from the break; they are back into a stretch run that carries playoff weight. Houston Dynamo Chief Marketing Officer Graham Wincott said the club created a second half that offers something special for every fan, and the schedule is built to prove it. Fans can buy the exclusive Trae the Truth collaboration shirt in the Team Shop on Wednesday’s match against D.C. United, giving the opening night a limited-run item tied to the club’s first home date of the restart.
The theme night slate then moves quickly. Houston will host Austin FC on Saturday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. for H-Town Night presented by College Ave. On Saturday, Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m., the club welcomes LA Galaxy for 2006 Championship Celebration Night presented by Ford. Members of the 2006 title-winning team will return to Shell Energy Stadium for a pre-match ceremony, while fans can buy a limited-edition replica 2006 championship ring ticket add-on while supplies last. The first fans through the gates that night will also receive a crazy hair giveaway courtesy of Ford.
Other dates lean into community and identity. Houston will host San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m. for Kick Cancer Night presented by UT MD Anderson, and the club said Houston Dynamo FC and UT MD Anderson will turn Shell Energy Stadium into a rally against cancer. Fans can honor loved ones with customizable “I Kick Cancer for” signs. The Dynamo then host Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. for Service Industry Night, with restaurant, bar and hospitality workers offered special ticket discounts.
The final two scheduled theme nights are aimed at the broader city and its fans. Houston hosts FC Cincinnati on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. for Noche Latina presented by Verizon, then Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. for Noche de México presented by Verizon. Put together, the announcement lays out six home matches after the break, each one designed to pull a different part of Houston into the stadium while the club tries to keep its results moving in the right direction. The promise is inclusivity; the pressure is standings. The next confirmed stop is Saturday, July 25, against Austin FC, when the second half’s pitch to the crowd gets its first full test.
