Rick Devens turned Week 2 into a moving target on Friday, winning the Head of Household competition and sending Jason De Puy, Lyric Medeiros and Melody Morris onto the block at the nominations ceremony. He also made clear that none of the three is his real aim, which keeps the week pointed toward a possible backdoor instead of a straight fight.
That is why Big Brother spoilers are centered on Devens now: the nominations did not settle the house, they opened the next round of it. He wants the Power of Veto used so he can go after Rome Seymour if the opportunity appears, and if it does not, Melody is the default target. The move puts three houseguests in danger while leaving the largest question for the veto cycle.
The numbers make the setup even sharper. Devens is not acting alone; he, Dee Valladares, Chuk Anyanwu, Haley Thogmartin, Kamu Kirk, Angela Murray, Barrett Pfeiffer and Drew Campbell formed the Toolshed, an eight-person group built from the Red Corner and the Crossovers overnight. In a house that large, that is enough votes to shape a week if the group stays aligned, even if the real test comes later when people have to decide whether to protect the nominations or flip the board for the backdoor.
What happened after the nominations showed how little calm there was beneath the surface. Jason argued with Angela in front of everyone and kept calling himself a messy bitch, while Drew said to get these tools out of here as the new alliance took shape around them. At the same time, Angela was still dealing with a punishment that forced her to wear Vince Panaro’s hard-boiled egg detective costume for an entire week, and she had already been chosen by America as the first houseguest to enter the Time Capsule after losing that challenge at a secret location.
That is the friction inside Devens’ week: he nominated three people, but he said he did not want anyone to go up on the block two weeks in a row, and he is still aiming somewhere else. If the Power of Veto is used, the house could finally get the opening Devens wants on Rome. If it is not, Melody becomes the fallback and the week turns from a hidden strike into a much simpler eviction fight.
