Three days later, another player won $100,000 with Power Play in the 15 de julio drawing on a ticket sold at Smokes 4 Less, 59 North Plank Road, in Newburgh. The numbers for that drawing were 2, 7, 18, 29 and 38, with red Powerball 16. The pattern matters because the headline total of $250,000 sounds even, but two of the three tickets needed Power Play to reach $100,000, turning a standard third-prize hit into a much larger payday.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Monday, 20 July, with an estimated jackpot of $544 million and a cash option of $241.6 million before taxes. The odds of matching all five white balls and the Powerball are about 1 in 292 million, which is what makes a week like this stand out even when the jackpot keeps climbing.
