Shaquille O'Neal is bringing DJ Diesel to El Paso on Sept. 17, with a show set for the 11:11 bar on Dyer Street. Tickets for the performance are scheduled to go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The El Paso stop is one of just four in Texas, making it one of the more limited chances for fans in El Paso and Northeast El Paso to catch him under his DJ name. O'Neal, the former basketball player who performs as DJ Diesel, used a Tuesday social media post to frame the run as a break from his usual Texas routine.
He said he normally comes to Texas once a year for his festival, but this time he is changing the pattern. “I usually come to Texas once a year for my festival… but this year we’re mixing it up and doing a full Texas Takeover,” O'Neal wrote online.
That shift gives the El Paso date extra weight. For a performer who has made Texas a regular stop, the new setup turns the Sept. 17 appearance into part of a tighter, more deliberate run, rather than a one-off return.
The show also keeps O'Neal tied to a second public identity that has followed him well beyond basketball. In recent years, he has split attention between his work as DJ Diesel and appearances that keep his name in circulation, including coverage of his LSU master’s milestone and debate around his role on Inside the NBA on.
For anyone hoping to get in, the only immediate step is the one that matters most: tickets open Wednesday at 10 a.m. The rest of the Texas stops have not been identified, which leaves El Paso as the one local date now fixed on the calendar.
