Ryan Hurst has been injured while filming a stunt for Prime Video’s God of War series, and production is now paused while he begins recovery. The injury reportedly tore his bicep and will require surgery.
The pause matters because Hurst is the show’s lead as Kratos, and the production had reportedly been working toward getting him back on set by mid-August. Instead, the series is stopped in its tracks at a moment when the cast and crew were expecting to keep moving, not wait.
God of War has been filming in Vancouver and adapts the mythology-heavy story of the 2018 video game of the same name. Alongside Hurst, the cast includes Callum Vinson as Atreus, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin and Max Parker as Heimdall. The series still does not have a release date.
The part that still hangs over the production is how long the halt will last. TMZ quoted sources who suggested filming could slip into 2027, but Prime Video has not officially confirmed that timetable, and Amazon Studios declined to comment. For now, the only firm conclusion is that the injury has already forced a pause, and the restart date remains open.
