The new trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness has landed, and it puts Zoe Saldaña’s Joe back on a mission that looks bigger, colder and more personal than before. Season 3 of the Paramount+ series premieres Sunday, August 2.
That date is why viewers are searching now. They do not have to wait for a vague window or a later rollout; the next chapter is set, and the first new footage shows Joe heading straight into another fight while trying to keep some version of home intact. In the trailer, she tells her kids, “I’m a soldier. And a soldier’s job is to fight.”
Saldaña remains the face of the series, and Nicole Kidman is back as well, keeping the show anchored in the same high-stakes world that made the previous season a tightening vice. The trailer also makes plain that the new season is not easing up. It centers on hidden networks, foreign operatives and personal betrayals, the kind of threats that turn a covert operation into something much harder to control.
That pressure shows up in the warning Joe gets from Kaitlyn, who tells her to assume her phone has been taken, assume everything has been taken and get ready. The line lands because it cuts through the larger mission with something uglier and more immediate: even the tools that make the job possible may already be compromised. Joe is being asked to protect the country while accepting that her own life is no longer private.
By the end of the trailer, the language turns even darker. Edwin says, “We’ll let the chips fall where they may. May God have mercy on us,” a closing note that sounds less like confidence than surrender to consequences already in motion. Lioness has been building toward that kind of collision since In Season, when the CIA’s fight against terror moved closer to home and Joe, Kaitlyn and Byron brought in a new Lioness operative to push into an unknown threat. Season 3 now takes that same pressure and widens it into a national-security crisis that is at once political, operational and deeply personal.
What comes next is simple and fixed: Season 3 arrives on Paramount+ on Sunday, August 2. The trailer does not leave much room to wonder whether Joe can keep her worlds separate. It shows the opposite, and that is the point.
