The CW Network has finalized a deal for Sullivan’s Crossing Season 5 CW, locking in a 10-episode return for the Canadian romantic drama and setting its next U.S. premiere for 2027. Production is due to begin in Nova Scotia later this summer.
The renewal answers the question fans had after a busy stretch for the series: the show is not just coming back, it is now on a clear path to its next chapter. The CW has been the show’s first-window U.S. home since Season 1, and the new order keeps that arrangement intact after CTV and Crave renewed the series in Canada more than a month ago.
For Roma Roth, the move keeps the project moving forward on familiar ground. Roth created the series from Robyn Carr’s bestselling book run and said she remained committed to guiding it as it enters Season 5, even as Floyd Kane takes over as head writer. Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray remain the faces most closely tied to the show on The CW.
The timing also reflects how much momentum the title has picked up. Season-to-date, it has averaged more than 1 million cross-platform viewers per episode for The CW, with linear growth of 62% among adults 18-49, 26% among adults 25-54 and 30% in total viewers. Viewing across VOD platforms rose 44% within seven days of airing, while the show’s Netflix run last summer widened its reach well beyond the network.
That wider exposure helped Season 4 land at number 6 on Netflix’s English series chart globally for its opening week with 3 million views, arriving there after the Season 4 finale aired on June 22 and the season debuted on Netflix on June 30. But Season 4 also marked a turning point on screen: it was the first installment without original co-lead Scott Patterson, and there are no current plans for him to return in a significant way in Season 5.
Even so, the network is treating the series like a durable fixture rather than a one-off success. A 2027 premiere keeps Sullivan’s Crossing on a yearly cadence, and the next season now has the two things that matter most for a drama trying to hold its audience: a start date and a path forward.
