Posts shared in the area said a Blue Plan had been activated, that officers were being requested from State Police, and that additional officers from Bristol, Southington, Plainville, Farmington and other area departments were staging nearby. The same posts said three ambulances had responded and that there was an unconfirmed report of serious injuries.
One Facebook user wrote, "I drove past it and have never seen that many police in one place in my life. Hope everyone is alright." Another local resident wrote, "Shooting reported at Southingtons Cadillac Ranch, people being transported to st mary's and cops are calling in reinforcements from other towns." Those posts captured why the rumor moved so fast: people saw the response before they saw any official explanation.
