Marvel Studios has unveiled a new illustration for Avengers: Doomsday, and it puts Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom at the center of the frame. The artwork also shows the heroes who will face him in December's Marvel Avengers Doomsday, making the image the clearest sign yet of how the movie is being staged.

The timing matters because the film is still ahead, but the reveal gives fans something concrete to read while they wait for the December release. For now, the image is the best look yet at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, with the villain presented as the figure everything else is built around.

That said, the image does not settle every question it raises. It shows the heroes who will take on Doctor Doom, but the full lineup is still doing some of the work that a studio splash image often does: suggesting scale, not confirming every piece of the roster. In other words, the picture tells viewers who is in the fight, but not necessarily how fixed that fight already is.

The Russos are set to tell that story in their big return to the MCU, and the new artwork looks designed to frame the movie as more than a one-character tease. It puts Doctor Doom in the middle, gives the heroes their place around him, and leaves the bigger answer for later. The next meaningful update is expected by late summer or early fall, when more of the film may finally be shown.
