Marvel Studios has put 11 major characters front and center in an official Avengers: Doomsday synopsis display shown in Shanghai, China, sharpening the focus on who the film wants audiences watching first. The display named Steve Rogers, Shuri, Thor, Loki, Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, Shang-Chi, Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova and Red Guardian, and said, “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes — Steve Rogers, Shuri, Thor, Loki, Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, Shang-Chi, Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, and Red Guardian — along with the Avengers, will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
That matters now because Avengers: Doomsday is still ahead of its 2026 release, and Marvel is using marketing to make the cast and the film’s scope feel concrete. The title is already showing up in the same kind of conversation that has surrounded other Marvel rollouts, including Avengers Doomsday Character Lineup adds Thor and Steve Rogers to major roles and Avengers Doomsday Trailer buzz builds as fans wait for Marvel’s next move, but this display goes further by tying named characters to an official synopsis rather than a tease or rumor.
The selection also helps define the film’s shape without fully explaining it. The list mixes heroes who are easy to place with others whose roles are less clear, and the phrase “along with the Avengers” leaves open whether the 11 names are a core team, a rotating roster, or simply the characters Marvel wants to emphasize in the film’s marketing. That uncertainty is part of the hook, because Marvel is also pointing to locations such as Doctor Doom’s throne room, Avengers Headquarters, X-Mansion, the Baxter Building and Wakanda, which suggests a crossover built around movement between separate corners of the MCU rather than one simple lineup.
At the center of that setup is Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, with Loki still holding the Multiverse at the End of Time after Loki Season 2.
