Love Island USA Season 8 is down to its last three episodes, and the field got tighter at the end of Episode 31 when viewers were told to vote for their top four couples before the finale on Sunday, July 12. That vote now hangs over every pair still in the villa, because it will decide who stays in place and who gets squeezed out before the end.
The biggest question mark is Kayda and Zach. Zach asked Kayda to be exclusive until they enter the real world, and Kayda was initially excited before later shedding tears as some of the girls treated exclusive and situationship like the same thing. That left her feeling unsupported, and it also gave the couple a rougher edge heading into the public vote.
The timing matters because this is not a normal midseason reset. With only three episodes left, the top four vote is effectively a cutoff, and it comes after several couples have already been sorting out exactly what they are to each other. By the end of Episode 31, KC and Titi had become one of the newest couples, KC had asked Titi to be his girlfriend, and they joined Trinity and Bryce as the only two couples in committed relationships.
That leaves Zach and Kayda in an awkward middle ground. Tess Higgins said she was not sure they were making it to the end and pointed to the fact that they were in the bottom earlier that week. Sally Darr Griffin took the opposite view, saying she personally thought they deserved a spot in the final four. Those split readings reflect the same problem Kayda has been dealing with in the villa: the label may be exclusive, but the support around it has not felt steady.
There is some recent momentum elsewhere in the season too. Higgins said KC and Titi had done a big 180 since the destruction that happened because of their entrance during Casa, and she called the karaoke challenge a welcome break after the despair that followed Movie Night. But none of that changes the math now. The vote at the end of Episode 31 is the gatekeeper, and the only couples that matter next are the four viewers choose.
For Kayda, the real test is whether the public treats her and Zach as a couple with a future or as one still marked by hesitation. The results of the vote will answer that in the clearest way the show has left.
