Maya Hawke has a new home just a couple of blocks from Uma Thurman’s place. The 27-year-old actor and Christian Lee Hutson recently bought the house together in upstate New York, putting the move close enough to her mother’s door to make it a family story as much as a real-estate one.

Hawke confirmed the purchase on July 5, and the timing gives the move a fresh edge: she turns 28 on July 8. It also follows an already unusual year. Earlier this year, she and Hutson married in a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding in New York City, with both of her parents and several co-stars from Stranger Things in attendance.

The new home sits in a part of New York that already matters to Hawke’s work. She is currently filming the Netflix limited series The God of the Woods, an adaptation of Liz Moore’s novel, and production is shooting across the Hudson River Valley and the Adirondacks. Hawke said the project shoots in the town that she grew up in, which gives the purchase a practical as well as personal pull.

That is what makes the detail near Thurman’s place more than celebrity trivia. Hawke is building a domestic base in the same region where she is working, not far from the mother she has already tied to the story by distance alone. What remains unanswered is how permanent this setup is: for now, the move is real, the location is close, and Hawke is splitting her time between a new home and a production that keeps her rooted in the same part of New York.
