Katherine Heigl has put her longtime Utah estate on the market for $10.6 million, opening a new chapter for the 25-acre property where she and Josh Kelley raised their three children. The five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot home sits in the mountains of Oakley, roughly 15 miles outside Park City.
The listing lands after nearly two decades of family life on land Heigl bought for $1 million in 2007, the same year she married Josh Kelley. They built the shared home in 2008 and made it their primary residence in 2012, turning it into the kind of place that kept growing around family routines, creative work and music.
Inside the four-story main house are concrete floors, large ceiling beams and a wall in the home theater used as a floor-to-ceiling display for yarn. A nearby ranch serves as an art studio, and the property also includes a heated pool, a playroom and a listening shack that Kelley said he restored from 200-year-old oak. Heigl said the studio was the one space that was completely hers, with the kids only allowed in when she was there, and she described the mornings she liked best as the ones spent with coffee, her dogs and a fire.
That is what makes the sale harder than a simple real-estate decision. Heigl has said it has been very hard to let the home go because she is a homebody and a creature of habit, even as the family moves toward a blue Victorian farmhouse in the same area that they bought as a restoration project a year ago. The shift is not away from Oakley, but away from the oversized family compound they built for a different stage of life.
Paul Benson of Engel & Völkers Park City has the listing, and the new buyer will be stepping into a property that has been shaped by almost 20 years of use, memory and custom work. For Heigl, the listing closes the door on the house where the family lived as a unit; for the market, it puts one of Oakley’s most idiosyncratic celebrity homes in play.
