Xbox Free Play Days starts Thursday with five games spread across different trial windows, and the mix matters because not every player gets the same access. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Diablo IV, Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure, Demonschool and The Stone of Madness are all part of the July run, but the terms split between full XBOX players and members on XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential.
The timing makes the promotion useful now, not later. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is free for all XBOX players from Thursday, July 2 to Monday, July 6, while Diablo IV is open to all XBOX players from Tuesday, June 30 until Tuesday, July 7. That means one game arrives before the rest of the Free Play Days lineup and stays live through the end of the promotion, making it the broadest entry point for anyone checking the Xbox Game Pass July games window.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 also has the clearest play window inside the promotion: Multiplayer and Zombies are free from July 2, 10 AM PT to July 6, 10 AM PT, and the trial includes more than 45 Multiplayer Maps. Diablo IV gives players a different kind of sample, with the iconic campaign open for any class up to level 30, and the game is 40% off through July 7. Players who buy it can keep going with the original five classes, while The Age of Hatred Collection extends access to the Warlock, Paladin and Spiritborn classes through the Lord of Hatred expansion.
The access rules are not identical across the slate, and that is where the promotion gets more useful than a simple free weekend. Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure is available only to XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members from Thursday, July 2 until Sunday, July 5. Demonschool and The Stone of Madness are open to all XBOX members, but only through a two-hour timed trial in the same window. That leaves one group with full access through membership and another with a short sample, even though both are tied to the same Free Play Days period.
There is also enough incentive built into the promotion to keep some progress from being wasted. Players who purchase a game during the event can keep their Gamerscore and achievements, and Diablo IV trial progress carries forward when the trial ends. Demonschool brings recent free updates with New Game+ mode and dialogue text logs, while The Stone of Madness leans on its setting as a real-time tactical stealth game in an 18th-century Spanish Monastery. By the time the last trials end on Sunday, July 5 or Monday, July 6, the main question is not whether there is something to try. It is which of these windows closes first for the player standing on the edge of a purchase.
