Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have donated $26 million to 20 charities across the United States this week, a move that puts a big philanthropic number in the middle of a swirl of attention around the couple. A representative for the pair confirmed the donation, and the release tied the money to food banks, children’s organizations and education programs in several cities.

The list reaches from City Harvest in New York City and Food Bank For NYC to New York Cares, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Harvesters – The Community Food Network in Kansas City, The Store in Nashville, Helping Harvest in Reading, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Feeding America, ASPCA, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Grammy In The Schools, Education Through Music in New York, Answer The Call in New York and Musical Mentors in New York. With 20 named charities in all, the money works out to about $1.3 million each on average, though the release does not say how the total is split.

That omission matters because the donation arrived alongside fresh speculation about the couple’s reported wedding plans. The announcement itself did not mention a wedding, even as a permit for a Special Event at MSG was issued by New York City’s permitting office on Wednesday night. The permit shows 100 guests arriving at Madison Square Garden at 6.30pm on Thursday for a pre-party celebration, with the main event set from 5pm on Friday until 4am the next morning and the application running through midday Saturday.

Swift has already said on The Graham Norton show that her wedding would be huge and fun to plan, adding that the stressful ones are the small ones where people are on the bubble and that she would not do that. For now, the sharper question is not whether the couple is spending big, but where the rest of the celebration lands: the charities have been named, the total has been set, and the split has not.
