Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have reportedly invited the New York Knicks' starting five to their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, turning one of the summer's most-watched celebrity events into a sports crossover with Jalen Brunson at its center.
The five players named are Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns. The reported guest list is more than 1,000 people, which is how a private wedding suddenly starts to look like a citywide event.
Swift has already been a visible presence around the Knicks this spring, sitting courtside for two playoff wins and later showing up with Kelce on the road when the Knicks played the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals. That makes the reported invite to the team's starting five fit the orbit the couple has already built around New York basketball.
Even so, the biggest part of the story is what is not yet known. The wedding reports have not been confirmed by the couple's representatives, and it is still unclear whether the players accepted. A message seeking confirmation from the Knicks was not returned, which leaves the invite list as a headline without a settled guest list.
For now, the only firm conclusion is that the wedding has become bigger than the ceremony itself. With rumored performances from Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw, expected guests including Selena Gomez, Mariska Hargitay and Gigi Hadid, and a contingent of Kansas City Chiefs teammates also said to be on the list, the unanswered question is no longer whether the event will draw attention. It is whether Brunson and the others will actually be there when July 3 arrives.
