Greenville County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested 18-year-old Kalief Terrill Walker in connection with a March shooting into a home in Greenville, adding a new violent case to a suspect already facing charges tied to the Haywood Mall shooting.
That earlier case mattered on its own. Court records show Walker was arrested on June 14 on charges of breach of peace, contributing to delinquency of a minor and possession of a stolen pistol, and those charges stemmed from a June 13 shooting at Haywood Mall that sent two people to the hospital. Now the same name appears again, this time in a case that began when Greenville County Communications got a 911 call around 2 a.m. on Friday, March 27, about someone shooting guns into a home.
Deputies said Walker and an unnamed juvenile suspect were arrested after an investigation into that March shooting. Walker was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and unlawful possession of a weapon. The juvenile suspect’s charges were not detailed, and the sheriff’s office did not say whether they matched Walker’s.
That gap matters because the March case is separate from the Haywood Mall shooting, even as both now point back to the same 18-year-old. The arrest does not explain what evidence linked Walker to the home shooting, but it does show investigators have already tied him to two different violent episodes in Greenville County in a matter of days.
What comes next is the part still missing from the record: a court path for the March case and the evidence deputies used to connect Walker to it. For now, the name at the center of both cases is the same, and the list of charges around it is getting longer.
