July 2026 Calendar: RBI sets bank closure dates across India

Banks in India will be shut for one day in the week between 29 June and 5 July 2026, and the July 2026 calendar from the Reserve Bank of India also sets out a month of recurring weekend closures. For customers of SBI, HDFC Bank and other public and private sector lenders, that means branch access will be limited on 5, 11, 12, 19, 25 and 26 July.

The schedule matters now because people are already checking which days in July will be workable for cash deposits, branch paperwork and other in-person tasks. The holiday list also shows that the month is not just about one weekday closure: it combines a national pattern of Sundays and Saturday shutdowns with a separate holiday week that reaches into the first days of July.

Two dates stand out in the week that begins on 29 June and ends on 5 July. One of them is 5 July 2026, when banks will be closed because it is a Sunday. That is the only closure in that week, so the branch calendar from 29 June to 5 July is lighter than it first appears, even though it still interrupts normal access for anyone who needs an in-person service at the start of the month.

Across the rest of July, the RBI calendar shows 12 days marked as holidays, though not every one applies everywhere. Some closures are tied to national observance, while others are specific to certain states or regions, which means a bank branch may be open in one place and shut in another on the same day. The calendar also marks some non-working days under the Negotiable Instruments Act and others under Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

The predictable part is the weekend rule. Banks observe mandatory closure on every Sunday and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, which brings shutdowns on 11 July, 12 July, 19 July, 25 July and 26 July. That is why the July 2026 calendar carries more branch-free days than a casual glance at the first week would suggest.

Customers do not lose access to banking altogether when branches are shut. Online banking services remain available across the country during bank holidays, UPI can still be used to make payments and receive money, and NEFT and RTGS transfer forms can be used during holiday periods. Credit cards, debit cards and ATM cards can also be obtained through card services, so the practical limit is on branch visits rather than on every banking function.

That split between physical and digital access is the real story behind the month’s holiday list. Branches across the country remain closed on gazetted national holidays, but the RBI calendar also reflects the uneven reality of state and regional observance, so the exact impact depends on where the customer banks. For now, the key date is already fixed: the next branch closures in July are the Sunday and Saturday shutdowns already marked on the calendar, with 5 July, 11 July, 12 July, 19 July, 25 July and 26 July the dates to watch.
