Msi Lol 2026 will be held at the Daejeon Convention Center's second exhibition hall from the 28th of this month to the 12th of next month, putting Daejeon at the center of one of the sport’s biggest international events. The city said the tournament will run through the play-in stage, bracket stage and final, with Hanwha Life e-Sports and T1 selected as Korea’s representatives.
The timing matters because the schedule is now set and the city is moving to turn that calendar into a live event. Daejeon expects more than 80,000 visitors from around the world and says the competition will generate more than 100 billion won in economic effect, a payoff it is banking on as the event is broadcast live in more than 100 countries and expected to reach more than 100 million cumulative viewers.
That scale also helps explain why the search interest is surging now. MSI is the midseason international League of Legends competition, and Daejeon is presenting MSI 2026 as part of a broader effort to become an e-sports-oriented city. Last year, MSI was held in Vancouver, Canada with the top 10 teams in each regional league in a 16-day showdown, underlining how large the field has become even though this year’s lineup in Daejeon will include 11 teams from six regions rather than the full previous format.
But the city is still building out the experience around the arena. Daejeon plans to operate a Fan Festa for e-sports fans at Hanbit Square in Expo Science Park near DCC's second exhibition hall, and the program will include a new champion-themed tunnel, a game arcade and an LCK 10th anniversary exhibition. The event sits alongside recent local efforts that brought the Eternal Return Masters Final and the Battleground Mobile Pro Series to Daejeon, while the 2023 LCK Summer Final showed the city can already stage a major live championship.
For now, the key fact is simple: MSI 2026 is on the calendar, the venue is fixed and the city is trying to make the streets around DCC feel like part of the tournament. The remaining question is whether Daejeon can turn a two-week championship into the kind of fan destination that keeps drawing top e-sports events after the final match is played.
