John Leguizamo and Matt Damon kicked off The Odyssey press tour on Friday, June 26, stepping out in Miami, Fla., for a photo call that put the film's rollout in motion. The pair posed in front of a giant Trojan horse statue and greeted attendees as the production began drawing public attention ahead of its summer release.

For Leguizamo, the moment marks the first real push for a film that places him in the role of Eumaeus opposite Damon’s Odysseus. The Odyssey is set to hit theaters on July 17, and the timing matters because the project is not just another studio release. It is Christopher Nolan’s next epic, built as a mythic action film shot across the world and brought to IMAX screens for the first time.

Damon framed the scale of that ambition in unusually blunt terms. After seeing the locations, he said he wondered who thought a movie could be shot there, then added that the film feels “so much bigger” than a conventional production. That line fits the way The Odyssey is being sold: not as a familiar retelling, but as a production trying to make Homer’s foundational saga feel physically larger than the screen.

The cast around Damon and Leguizamo underlines that point. Tom Holland plays Telemachus, Robert Pattinson is Antinous, Anne Hathaway is Penelope, Charlize Theron is Calypso, and Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel and Mia Goth are also in the film. The rollout now turns from a Miami photo call to the hard part of any major release, which is turning a myth-sized promise into a selling point before July 17 arrives.

What the photo call did not answer is just as important as what it did. The event showed the stars, the statue and the start of the publicity push, but it left the film’s global shooting locations out of view. That gap is likely to keep the focus on scale, since Nolan and his cast are asking audiences to believe that Homer’s journey can be made to feel new on IMAX screens.
