Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are reuniting to star in Hulu’s developing series You Deserve To Know, putting two of The Vampire Diaries’ best-known leads back on the same project for the first time in years. Dobrev will play Gwen, while Wesley will play Scott, in a drama that is still only in development.
That is why You Deserve To Know is drawing attention now. The pairing has immediate name recognition, and the series arrives with a built-in fan base from the 2010s. Dobrev and Wesley shared the screen on the first six seasons of The Vampire Diaries, with Wesley staying through its eight-season run and Dobrev returning for the series finale. For readers tracking what the actors are doing next, this is the rare reunion that feels both familiar and new.
The project is based on Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 novel and follows three suburban couples who are next door neighbors and best friends. When one of the husbands is murdered, a trail of secrets pulls the friendships apart, and Gwen and Scott end up on opposite sides of the investigation. Brian Tanen wrote the adaptation, and the series comes from Unwell and Kapital Entertainment, with Dobrev and Wesley also executive producing.
There is, though, an important limit to the news. Hulu has not yet set a premiere date or said whether You Deserve To Know will get a series order, so the reunion is real but not yet locked into a release schedule. That keeps the project in the middle ground where many TV developments live: public enough to travel fast, uncertain enough to leave the next step in Hulu’s hands.
Still, the pieces around it suggest momentum. Dobrev recently starred in and produced General Admission, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and she next appears in The Get Out, while also being attached to headline Night Float. Tanen is returning to Hulu after Love, Victor, and Kapital has already been active there with other recent sales. For now, the most straightforward read is also the most newsworthy one: Dobrev and Wesley are back together, and Hulu has the project that could put them on screen opposite each other again.
