Fortnite went offline at 4 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 25 as Fortnite Status said downtime for v41.10 began. Matchmaking ended shortly beforehand, cutting off players who were still trying to get in before maintenance took over.
The timing is why the search spikes now: people want to know whether Fortnite Servers are back, when they will reopen and whether they missed the window before the shutdown. Fortnite Status posted the update on X and said the game should be ready to play again in a few hours, while noting that these maintenance periods usually last less than two hours.
The update is tied to Battle Royale and Fortnite OG Season 9, and it arrives with players being told to collect five new Sprites in Battle Royale. That creates the oddest part of the morning: the game is offline for maintenance even as the current update points players toward in-game items they cannot reach until the servers come back.
Fortnite Status also said players can check the status of Fortnite on the Epic Games site, which is the clearest place to look while the game remains down. The temporary shutdown lands in the middle of Fortnite's Chapter 7, Season 3 Runners, which began on June 6 and is scheduled to run until Aug. 19.
For now, the practical answer is simple: Fortnite is down for a scheduled update, and it should return later today, but no exact comeback time has been confirmed. If the usual pattern holds, the wait will be measured in hours, not all day.
