Michelle Keegan is back filming in Manchester, this time on Netflix’s The Woods, the eight-episode adaptation of Harlan Coben’s 2007 novel. She was seen on location as the streamer moves ahead with a series that is already set to be her second Harlan Coben project for Netflix.
The timing is what makes the images land now. Keegan has just come off praise for Fool Me Once, and Netflix has already named her and Tom Bateman for The Woods, keeping her at the center of one of the platform’s biggest recurring thriller brands. For viewers looking for the next Coben title, this is the latest one with Keegan in the frame.
The story follows Paul Copeland, whose sister Camille vanished from a summer camp in the woods 20 years ago, and a murder victim later turns out to have disappeared at the same time. That gives the series the familiar Coben setup of a long-buried disappearance and a second mystery that forces the past back into the present.
Keegan also added a small personal note to the production. She posted a picture from outside The Midland Hotel on her Instagram Story and wrote, “My Great Grandad used to work here for years as a door man.” It is a reminder that the city where she is working now is the city where she grew up, before she attended St Patrick’s RC High School in Eccles and later the Manchester School of Acting.
That homecoming sits alongside a different life now. Keegan lives in Essex with Mark Wright and their daughter, Palma, which makes the Manchester shoot feel like a return as much as a job. The question left open is the one Netflix has not answered yet: when The Woods will actually reach viewers. A release date has not been set.
