That is why his name is being searched now. The initial word was that he had identified Florida, Minnesota and Vegas as possible destinations, but Detroit asked for additional destinations and Larkin added a few more teams, leaving the door open without making it easy to walk through. Fairly recently, he committed to Detroit for eight years, which makes the request harder to read than a standard trade rumor and explains why every phone buzz can feel like it might change the shape of the week.
The timing matters because Draft Week is when teams start acting as if the market is about to move, even before the larger free-agency period fully arrives.
