The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified two of the three skeletal remains found in a Burlington home on June 14. The remains were identified Sunday as Sally Ann Cash, 54, and her son, Brian Cash, 23.
State troopers responded to 7 Stanwich Lane at 4:46 p.m. on June 14 after a report of human remains in the home. The discovery came after a new buyer purchased the property as is at a foreclosure auction and found the remains of three people inside.
The identification gives names to two members of a case that had until now been defined by what was found, not by who was found. Town records show the house was bought in 2019 by Paul and Sally Anne Cash for more than $800,000, and records also show the four-bedroom home was built in 2002 on a little more than two acres.
But the key questions have not moved. The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined a cause of death, and state police said there is no indication of anything suspicious and no indication of any criminal aspect. Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime unit are investigating, yet the third person found in the home still has not been identified.
State police said the case appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. For now, the case stands with two names, one unanswered identification and no medical explanation for how three skeletal remains came to be inside a Burlington home that changed hands at auction earlier this month.
