The birthday note is drawing attention because it came after a 19-year marriage ended, not before. Kidman and Urban filed the paperwork in September 2025 after reportedly separating earlier in the summer, and the timing of Urban’s tribute turned a private milestone into a public check-in.
Kidman has been plain about where her focus sits now. In a Variety interview published March 11, she said she is “always going to be moving toward what’s good” and that what she is grateful for is her family and “moving forward,” adding that she stays in the mindset that “We are a family,” even as the marriage has ended. She also said her “beautiful girls,” Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, are “suddenly women.”
That makes the public birthday message easier to read as a gesture shaped by family ties rather than a fresh reconciliation. Kidman and Urban share the two daughters, and she also has Bella and Connor with Tom Cruise, leaving her comments about “my next few years” of “adventures” rooted in a larger family picture rather than a single relationship. There is some evidence that Urban has been keeping his head down and working. Russell Dickerson said in March that Urban “seemed in good spirits” and that he has been “doubling down” on music.
